After the internalization of legitimacy as a work approach, we propose the elaboration and implementation of the Socio-Environmental Management System that articulates the management of socio-environmental variables that may be a risk for the development of new projects or expansions of ongoing operations.
In our experience, from the perspective of extractive companies, when the socio-environmental risk variables are properly articulated and translated into applicable management plans by the social, environmental and environmental permitting management teams, it is possible to be socially and environmentally viable and sustainable over time.
Socially and environmentally viable performance has a positive impact on the company's reputation and therefore on the viability of new projects or expansions of ongoing operations.
